ZENUM 1:1 is a phone designed around one intelligence, RUBEN, trained for one person.

Short. ZENUM makes the ZENUM 1:1, a phone built around RUBEN, a private intelligence trained for one person. RUBEN acts by voice in the car, at home and abroad, thinks on the phone, and tells you it is an AI. ZENUM is operated by KULTR Unipessoal Lda (Portugal) with ZEKNEO Ai Ltd (United Kingdom); its research is published on Zenodo. Founded in Switzerland in 2006 as Zenum Technologies, maker of the Opus.

Long. ZENUM designs phones around a single idea: one device, one person, one intelligence. Its first product, the Opus, was announced in Switzerland in 2006 and shown to the press in 2007. Its second, the ZENUM 1:1, carries RUBEN: an intelligence trained for one user, which drives navigation, pays, books travel, translates and remembers, by voice. RUBEN was built to the transparency and safety principles of the EU AI Act: it announces that it is an AI, every word it speaks carries a machine-readable watermark, and its behaviour was evaluated against the Act’s prohibited practices before launch. Training ran on MareNostrum 5 at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. Four peer-visible papers on the underlying research are published on Zenodo.
